JEMUN has many unique strengths and one of them is definitely the passion, knowledge, and professionalism that the JEMUN advisors bring to each conference.

Our team of approximately 30 JEMUN Advisors consists of business leaders, journalists and educators from countries all over the world. These dedicated JEMUN advisors volunteer their time during each conference to make sure the student participants get the most out of the JEMUN experience.

At each conference, JEMUN advisors are busy facilitating in the meeting rooms and providing assistance to the student journalists in the JEMUN media room. Without their expertise and support, JEMUN would not be at the level it is.

If you are a business leader, media professional, or educator interested in volunteering for this powerful student conference, contact the JEMUN Organizing Team for more information.

The best lessons come through experiences that challenge students' abilities. That's why I keep coming back to JEMUN. Over three days, the Japan English Model United Nations provides attendees with opportunities to research, explain, negotiate, navigate.

As a faculty mentor to JEMUN's journalism students, my job is to assist in their reporting processes by asking questions that help the reporters find answers so they can provide the best possible coverage of JEMUN and learn how to do it better the next day.

For many, this is their first time interviewing a delegate, overcoming a news blackout, capturing stories in photographs and videos, filing a story on deadline with verified facts. I love seeing their confidence grow as they use new skills and tools that will help with their professional careers later.

I also appreciate the professional colleagues that JEMUN assembles to advise its students. We are all committed to guiding the students through the experiences without lecturing them how to do so, so the lessons learned will last their lifetimes.

I’m the JEMUN Magazine advisor, and I’ve been fortunate to work with some outstanding young people over the last few years years.  The JEMUN magazine experience is designed to teach students editorial, and design skills.  It also exposes them to technology that helps to develop their abilities for the 21st century workplace. Students spend an intense conference collaborating with their peers to design online and print versions of a publication that encapsulates the entire JEMUN experience. It has been a pleasure seeing students improve their skillsets and use them in their post-university careers. I look forward to meeting this year’s students.

Bond University has been sending students the JEMUN since its inaugural conference in 2017. What makes JEMUN unique to other conferences is the way it provides an avenue for students from both International Studies (be it International Relations, or Diplomacy) as well as Journalism to practice their future craft within an international environment. JEMUN presents an opportunity to assist students in the development of employability skills such as critical thinking, multi-cultural collaboration, research, and presentation skills, in a way that cannot be derived from a textbook.

When seeking out an international Model UN Conference for my students to attend the development of employability skills, and a unique, positive student experience were at the top of my criteria – criteria which has continually been met by JEMUN. To date, almost 30 students of mine have experienced JEMUN and each of them still reminisces about their experience. It would be cliché to describe JEMUN as a life-changing experience, but for a number of my students at least, it has become a life defining moment.

The experiences I obtained through JEMUN provided me with unique and essential skills that helped me to transition from part-time university teaching to a tenured position as an associate professor in 2019. Having JEMUN on my resume definitely attracted interest at job interviews. I highly recommend JEMUN for teachers who want to advance their career and make a difference in the lives of the student participants.
